Why is addressing mental health and therapy at our core?
Children and Young People’s mental health has never been so relevant or important!
Here at Poles APart, children and young people’s mental health is at the very core of what we do, as we believe unless mental health is improved then academic achievement is not achievable or sustainable, thus dramatically affecting the ability some children and young people have living a happy and progressive adult life.
Initial assessment
An initial assessment is conducted using Motional, as well as a multiagency discussion and getting to know the student and their family or carer. Then a pathway – tailored to the student’s needs and wants- will be designed. Each pathway will include daily or weekly therapy and all activities and learning will be created around this. We have a full-time therapist and access to a range of professionals through our partner ‘The Outdoors Group’.
The student’s journey will be child-centred and will be reviewed and assessed throughout. It is imperative to us that we include all relevant professionals as inclusivity is key. It is fundamental to us that we work collaboratively with parents and carers, key staff from their schools and mental health professionals.
We aim to RESET, RE-ENGAGE, RECONNECT and REFLECT.
Therapies include:
Counselling Sessions, Walk and talk, Sensory, Music, Art, Sand Tray, CBT.
